Job Opening: Communications Coordinator

Gross Salary: Kshs 100,000.00

The Association of Startup & SMEs Enablers of Kenya (ASSEK) is a business membership organization operating in Kenya that aims to bring together and represent the interests of organizations supporting the development and growth of startups and SMEs for maximum impact.

We are looking for a Communications Coordinator who is a resourceful and innovative mind. He/she will be responsible for implementing ASSEK’s brand strategy.

He/she will maintain brand integrity across all marketing initiatives and communications.

This is a contract job based in Nairobi with frequent travel.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating awareness of and developing the ASSEK brand
  • Communicate with target audiences and build and develop customer relationships
  • Help with marketing plans, advertising, direct marketing and campaigns
  • Source advertising opportunities and place adverts in the media
  • Work closely with in-house or external creative agencies to design marketing materials
  • Write and proofread marketing copy for both online and print campaigns
  • Produce creative content, including videos and blog posts
  • Run social media channels and platforms to enhance audience engagement
  • Organise and attend events such as conferences, seminars, receptions and exhibitions
  • Source and secure sponsorship
  • Liaise with designers and printers and organise photo shoots
  • Arrange the effective distribution of marketing material
  • Maintain and update customer databases
  • Conduct market research
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external

Person’s Specifications

  • Proven (3 years) experience as a Communications Assistant, Specialist or similar role
  • Excellent command of the English language is mandatory
  • Strong communication skills and need to maintain good relationships with all parties
  • Hands on attitude, analytical and ambitious
  • Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with design software and content management systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Solid editing and researching skills
  • BSc/BA in Marketing, Communications or a related field is desired
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong creative outlook
  • Understanding of media relations and digital media strategies
  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail
