Position Title: Agronomist / Farm Manager

We are urgently searching for an Agronomist/farm manager with a good business sense for our horticultural farm.
His/her responsibilities will include monitoring staff, crops, and livestock, purchasing supplies, preparing budgets and reports, and ensuring maximum profit.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyzing existing operations, crops, livestock, staff, and financial documents and recommending improvements.
- Preparing plans and schedules for planting and harvesting.
- Ensuring staff understands expectations.
- Visiting the different divisions to inspect crops and livestock, and also perform tests on soil and water.
- Ensuring seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other supplies are optimally used and regularly restocked.
- Scheduling repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.
- Handling the marketing and sale of products produced on the farm.
- Ensuring all staff adheres to health and safety regulations.
- Assisting with the recruitment and training of new staff members.
- Maintain and monitor the quality of yield, whether livestock or crops.
- Monitor animal health and welfare, including liaising with Government vets.
- Maintain knowledge of pests, and diseases, understanding how they spread and how to treat them.
- Apply health and safety standards across the farm estate
- Visiting different divisions to inspect crops, and livestock and also perform tests on soil and water.
- Ensuring seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other supplies are regularly restocked
- Preparing budgets and financial reports.
- Advise the Directors accordingly.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in an agriculture-related field, Agronomist or equivalent.
- A business management qualification will be a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of extensive experience in managing a large horticulture and livestock farm.
- Strong general management, staff management, and demonstrated leadership skills,
- Be able to properly manage teams and employees within a difficult environment
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- The ability to make decisions in stressful environments.
- Superb communication and interpersonal skills.
- Report writing skills.
