Assistant Accountant (Payables) Internshi Opportunities in Kenya

A leading Taxi company in Kenya providing world class taxi service with a clean and modern fleet of over 130 vehicles is looking for candidates to fill internship position of Assistant Accountant – Payables.

Job Purpose: The Assistant Accountant – Payables is an accounting position principally responsible of accounts payable process (supplier and creditor account recording, reconciliation and payment cycles).

Duties and responsibilities

  • Keying-in and filing payables invoices and credit notes and reconciling the related GL accounts.
  • Preparation of payments strictly based on ageing after verifying validity through quotation, purchase order, goods received/delivery note, job card, invoice, ETR receipt/ESD signature, etc. and ensuring payments are ready by the set day.
  • Maintaining both the soft and physical fixed assets register as well as the depreciation schedule.
  • Ensuring completeness and accuracy of payables accounts at all times.
  • Any other incidental duties.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum CPA II qualification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in BCOM, finance and accounting, or in any business related field / CPAK finalist will be an added advantage.
  • Advanced bookkeeping skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • High proficiency level of computer skills especially computerized accounting, spreadsheet, word-processing and e-mails.
  • Strict confidentiality, honesty, trustworthiness and respectfulness.
  • Excellent, decision making, interpersonal, teamwork skills, cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Very effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective listening, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrable self-motivated initiative and innovativeness.

The qualified candidate for the Internship will be paid a stipend of Ksh.20,000 per month.
