Position Title: Consultants - Mental Health Experts

The Institute for Human Development (IHD) was launched in February
2015. The IHD’s vision is to drive innovation in research in early human
development that advances the quality of individual lives and
contributes to the building of successful pluralistic societies. IHD
generates new knowledge through basic and applied research; applies the
knowledge gained through research to inform programmes, services, and
practices within community settings; and influences policy formulation
and implementation in ways that reap the benefits of the systematic
research produced at the institute and elsewhere. The institute also
delivers educational programmes at multiple levels of study to prepare a
wide range of human development specialists and professionals.
Responsibilities: Job Summary
Working closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and or the
Director of IHD, the Mental Health experts will be responsible for
providing the Institute for Human Development with expertise on mental
health. This includes but is not limited to training on Mental Health
research, curriculum development, designing tools for Mental Health
research, and offering psychological counseling on a short-term
basis. Responsibilities include:
- Provide a range of Mental Health Services, including but not limited to:
- Training on Mental Health research
- Design of tools for data collection in Mental Health
- Conceptualization, design, and implementation of Mental Health research projects
- Evaluation of Mental Health Interventions
- Curriculum development in Mental Health courses
- Provide professional and confidential one-on-one counseling services and make diagnoses of psychological issues and refer accordingly
Requirements
- Must have a PhD and/or Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology Counselling, Psychology Psychiatry and other expertise in other allied fields with at least 1 year experience, or
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Counselling or Clinical Psychology with a minimum of 5 years, or
- Higher Diploma in Counselling with a minimum of 7 years related work experience
- Must have demonstrable track record in the provision of any of the required services
- Must have excellent report writing and communication skills
- Must be a team player with ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Should have ability to maintain professionalism in services delivery and ethics
- Must be registered with a recognized professional organization especially for those to be contracted to offer one-on-one therapeutic services
