Position Title: E-Category Manager

LOCATION: Nairobi

Our client, in the retail Industry is looking to fill the position of a E- Category Manager

JOB PURPOSE: The E- Category Manager is responsible and accountable for driving design for E-Commerce product in non-Food.

In addition, the role holder must maintain conversion rates, click through rate, number of views, and search but not purchased.

He or she will craft the marketing 3P’Ls and lead innovation networks, handle profit and loss (P&L) management and build new business models for categories/brands for consumers online.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive the categories in both top line and bottom line through quality assortment, price, and content.
  • Maintain main KPIs, which are conversion rates, click through rate, number of views, and search but not purchased.
  • Responsible for effective price negotiation with the collaboration of the merchandising team to ensure best prices, deals, and large quantity of goods in three main categories: fresh, CG and non-food.
  • Deliver selection, profitability, and sales targets by leading the business segment on the needs of the customer and identifying suitable opportunities for the category.
  • Analyze daily data pertaining to price fluctuations and price problems for all categories.
  • Write business proposals by identifying and mapping business strengths and customer needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior leaders of partnered vendors to grow and optimize the joint retail and import businesses.
  • Work to ensure a reliable, operational a cost-effective flow of goods, from ordering to receive.
  • Monitor, analyze and own key performance indicators such as vendor import share, out of stock rate, vendor operational metrics, and marketing investments.
  • Support digital marketing strategy, including paid search and ad programs, channel ad campaign strategy, search engine optimization, email marketing, marketing automation, and more.

Human Capital Responsibilities

  • Ensure the implementation of the performance management process.
  • Provide mentorship for the purpose of developing a continuous talent pipeline for key roles
  • Identify training needs and coordinate with the HC department to ensure facilitation of training requirements.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of on the job-training.
  • Ensure constant availability of the required competent staff to support the organization in meeting all its responsibilities, plans, and objectives.
  • Provide inputs while developing MAF Retail’s corporate policies and relevant procedures and monitor the implementation.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Monitor allocated budget to ensure compliance and take corrective measures when necessary.
  • Provide inputs on the development of annual budget.
  • Review financial reports for accuracy and consistency.
  • Develop necessary measures towards continuous reduction of the operational cost.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in E- Commerce or Business Administration.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and people agility with high level of collaboration.
  • High level of problem-solving skills and detailed oriented.
  • Solid analytical skills, trouble-shooting skills; planning and organizational skills
  • Operational agility and nimbleness to adapt to changing retail environment
  • Proficient computer skills – MS Office, SAP, Salesforce, advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills

Minimum Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience across product innovation, with channel E-Commerce experience.
  • Retail industry experience is plus
