CAREER OPPORTUNITY: RETENTION OFFICER (POSTS TO BE LOCATED IN KISUMU / SIAYA COUNTY)

The study “SMS-based Support Intervention to Enhance PrEP Adherence during Pregnancy and Breastfeeding”, (mWACh-PrEP) has a broad aim to optimize PrEP for HIV prevention adherence and continuation for pregnant and postnatal women.

Job Purpose: The retention Officer will be responsible forassisting the study nurses with recruiting and enrolling participants into the studyin the selected facilities in Kisumu and Siaya Counties.

He/she will directly report to the assistant study coordinator

Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Work closely with the nurses to ensure a seamless and coordinated running of the study.
  • Contacting each study participant enrolled
  • Ensuring that the study participants receive adequate intervention and are compliant to the study procedures
  • Provide an effective personalized and individual support service to the study participants.
  • Prepare daily clinic summaries of women screened and recruited into the study
  • Defaulter tracing
  • Contribute to Pre-exposure prophylaxis awareness in the facilities

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/higher Diploma in psychological counseling /Social Work/ Community health and development from a recognized institution
  • Must be Fluent in English, Swahili and Dholuo (common languages among our research participants)
  • Must have at least one year experience post-internship
  • Must have at least one year research experience
  • Must be conversant with the study area
  • Must be computer literate (Attache training computer certificate)
  • Must have a valid certificate in Human Subjects Protection

Desirable qualities, skills and abilities:

  • Excellent skills with mobile technology
  • Excellent communication skills: Must be able to communicate to the study participants well and with PI via email and Skype
  • Team player with ability to work closely with other study staff at the site
