Request for Proposal Grant Write

Kakenya’s Dream seeks to empower and motivate young girls through education to become agents of change and to break the cycle of destructive cultural practices in Kenya, such as female genital mutilation and early forced marriage. These future leaders will improve their community, their nation, and the world. We challenge ourselves to come up with the best educational system for young African girls and we promise to share our models with others.

Dr. Kakenya Ntaiya is a leading advocate for girls’ education and empowerment. Surviving female genital mutilation and avoiding an arranged marriage as a child, Dr. Ntaiya went on to become the first woman from her community to go to college in the US. She founded Kakenya’s Dream to continue paving the way for the next generation of women leaders in her community.

Kakenya’s Dream is seeking a short-term development consultant to develop and draft a series of new grant proposal templates for the overall organization as well as our three core programs that tells our story in a new and compelling manner and elevates our impact. The focus of these templates will be on capacity building as our goal is to eventually endow each of our core programs.

Deliverables

  • Interview Dr. Ntaiya and summarize in a report what is and is not currently working with our approach so that you can fully understand the new direction that she wants to go in.
  • Develop a plug and play capacity building template/proposal for the overall organization and each of our three programs (Centers for Excellence, Network for Excellence, Health) that demonstrates our unique value proposition and why someone/organization would want to invest in us.

Sections to include:

  • Organizational background and demographics/target beneficiaries
  • Problem analysis/context for each program
  • Project/program description
  • Direct and indirect impact and metrics to evaluate success
  • Key direct and indirect stakeholders/partners
  • Sustainability (financial and programmatic)
  • Budget
