Position Title: Project Manager

The Association of Start-up & SMEs Enablers of Kenya (ASSEK) is a business membership organization operating in Kenya that aims to bring together and represent the interests of organizations supporting the development and growth of start-ups and SMEs for maximum impact.

ASSEK seeks to recruit a Project Manager.

Reporting to the CEO, the Project Manager will oversee and manage all projects.

He/she shall ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and with the desired outcomes.

Work Location: Kisumu / Western Kenya

Gross Salary: KES 150,000

Responsibilities

  • Translate the internal Project Management Standards into actionable Program Management
  • Ensure that all projects are standardised in their execution and quality
  • Facilitate and lead roundtables on key emerging issues in policy, regulations, compliance etc.
  • Ensure that the Strategic Projects link to broader strategic goals
  • Provide external measurement of project’s milestones and drive account
  • Execute and manage “checks & balances” for all strategic projects
  • Draft proposals and reports to potential donors, and partners and seek extension and expansion of the current proposals
  • Draft and maintain contracts with the project implementers
  • Implement business plans, oversee the day-to-day delivery of programs and provide operational support
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and applicable legal requirements
  • Collect data from members and the ecosystem to enable develop programs, and identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Propose and develop innovative approaches and programs that help offer solutions or add value
  • Drive the analysis of new opportunities and create a strategic roadmap
  • Oversee the effective design, management and delivery of all programs
  • Ensure adequate and timely communication of Strategic Programs to all the stakeholders
  • Establish and build mutually beneficial partnerships with organizations, governments, local and international players.
  • Ensure strong stakeholder management
  • Report, communicate and advise Management and the Leadership team on all Strategic Projects
  • Represent the organization in meetings and events attended by high-profile stakeholders
  • Define project requirements and work with the internal team in procuring the resources
  • Have oversight over the project budget and ensure compliance

Person’s Specifications

  • A degree from a recognized university
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in project management
  • Proven track record in planning, executing, controlling and closing projects
  • Ability to effectively manage a project and its components simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • At least 3 years’ experience in fundraising, proposal writing, documentation and donor reporting
  • Solid experience in donor and stakeholder management
  • Proven track record of developing strategies and managing programmes
  • Experience in the innovation ecosystem
  • Experience developing and overseeing projects
  • Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and work both independently and with team members
  • Strategic thinker, with the ability to thrive in an evolving and challenging environment
  • Possess strong communications skills (both verbal and written), a high degree of integrity and dependability.
