Career Opportunity: Chief Executive Officer – Lokichoggio, Turkana

Salary: KShs. 120,000 per month

Purpose of the Role: One of our Clients in the Humanitarian Industry, based in Lokichoggio, is looking for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Reporting to the Board Chairperson, the core purpose of this role is to provide leadership and direction.

The CEO will work closely with the Board of Directors to develop strategies to grow fundraising, advocate for the rights of children, develop, and monitor high quality Program.

The CEO will ensure effective implementation of the strategy, drive implementation and report on results.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Provide a clear and purpose driven leadership in line with the Mission and Vision as per its Constitution
  • Subscribe to the Core Values and Christian Ethics & Affiliation as per its Constitution
  • Operate as a positive role model for the culture of the organization; principled and acts with integrity
  • Understands and navigates organization dynamics; builds strong informal networks
  • Develop high a performing collaborative team; is inspirational and present
  • Proven record of ability to lead in a multiethnic and multicultural setting
  • Provide the Board of Directors with trusted feedback and advice
  • Use strong analytical and innovative thinking to develop a clear business strategy to achieve goals

Fundraising

  • Develop high performing fundraising strategies which are cost effectively implemented by the team
  • Ensure fundraising goals are achieved
  • Ensure that funding partners, sponsors and donors are provided with regular reports, updates, and photographic materials

Strategic Role

  • Ensure there is a clear communication strategy which maximizes opportunities for advocacy, fundraising and builds the brand reputation
  • Ensure financial goals are achieved

Program Management

  • Engage with funding providers to support Programs where required
  • Ensure Programs are well planned
  • Ensure Programs are implemented and managed effectively
  • Develop a clear strategy for the Programs
  • Advocacy: Act as the chief external advocate for the organization ensuring key messages for the goals of the organization are heard

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree in Project Management or any other relevant degree.
  • Professing Christian with testimonies of transparency, honesty, and integrity
  • Knowledge and experience of Non Profit sector work and social enterprises
  • 10 years and above in Project Management in Humanitarian environment
  • Ability to provide strong financial leadership
  • Resourceful – willing to take measured risks
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • Strong strategic capability
  • Proven ability of achieving organizational goals
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and stakeholder management
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
