Job Summary: WW Carbon Africa seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Finance and Accounting Manager to support the Management & Administration Department by taking responsibility for FA related matters across the team from daily financial transactions, disbursement process, develop financial statement, budgets preparation, wire request, maintain company inventory, support company audit process, etc. and providing strategic recommendation to the members of the executive management team.

The Finance and Accounting Manager will be ensuring that all accounting processes align with current financial legislation.

Analyzing financial data and creating reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties, such as client, bank, investors, potential investor, and tax authorities.

Maintaining accurate and complete financial records and participating in audits or reconciliations, as needed.

Assisting other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.

The Finance and Accounting Manager will be based in Nairobi and work closely with Head of Global Accounting and Chief Financial Officer in US.

The position not only requires an in-depth knowledge of Financial and Accounting related matter, leadership, communication, and planning skills but she/he must have strong prioritization skills and feel comfortable in taking initiative to deliver the company financial status.

Responsibilities:

The Finance & Accounting Manager is to undertake the following tasks:

  • Manage the daily activities of the financial transactions (sales, purchases, receipts, payments) and ensuring that all major company, month-end, and year-end report are completed accurately and on time
  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes
  • Ensures that spending meets approved budgets and adheres to the objectives, restrictions, and in accordance with WWCA operating procedures and Partners
  • Develop subsidiary level financial statement to parent company to assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual close process in a timely manner
  • Develop and manage company inventory report
  • Develop and manage regular, annual, and multi-year budgets that are adequate for the company’s needs including preparation of periodic budget forecasts
  • Develop comparison report budget vs actual and oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory accounting; external & internal audit and tax compliance
  • Assist in accounting system transformation
  • Tracking cash flow and financial planning as well as analyzing the company’s financial strengths and weaknesses and proposing corrective actions
  • Providing leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team in Nairobi office and Projects office
  • Develop, implement, and review all strategic SOP and Policy related Finance and Accounting that work to minimize financial risk
  • Represent company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, public auditors, and officials
  • Identify, acquire, and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information
  • Works with other department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations to increasing budget efficiency
  • Manage the regional company payroll and all statutory payments.
  • Perform other tasks required by Regional Director

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should possess at minimum a bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum (5) years of related work experience in Profit Company.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Having high accuracy and integrity
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) , and Kenyan tax systems.
  • Experience with Sage accounting system a plus
  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
  • Computer proficiency in Excel/ MS Office – Word and PowerPoint
  • Written and spoken fluency in English is preferred
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and highly proactive team player
  • HR Experience an added advantage.
