The Karen Hospital is a 102-bed multispecialty Hospital located along Karen-Langata Road, Nairobi-Kenya, aimed at providing specialized evidence-based healthcare services and referral facilities for the Africa region.
To support the delivery of world class, patient-centric care, we are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, visionary and result oriented candidate for the role of:
Position Title: Pharmaceutical Technologist – Karen Hospital Nyeri Branch
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the pharmacy to run efficiently and will assist pharmacists in their day-to-day tasks while providing exceptional patient care environment where quality, respect, caring and compassion are at the center of all we do.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescriptions for patients and staff under the direction of the Senior Pharmacist;
- Process prescriptions electronically and verify the accuracy of patient information;
- Comply with rules, regulations and procedures involved in patient care and maintain sanitary pharmacy surfaces and equipment;
- Check and document expiry dates of all stock and bring short-dated stock to the attention of the Head of Pharmacy in a timely manner;
- Process orders delivered to the Pharmacy Department in accordance with standard operating procedures taking note of special requirements such as maintenance of cold chain and handling of cytotoxic products;
- Ensure timely supply of pharmaceutical products in line with agreed levels and frequencies and report shortages to the Head of Pharmacy in a timely manner;
- Deliver quality customer service to patients while responding to inquiries, questions and requests; and
- Prepare and submit periodic reports on all pharmacy activities.
Desired Experience and Qualifications
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology.
- Must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- A minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

- Conversance with hospital management systems.
- Agile with proven leadership and reporting skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Principled in equity, accountability, flexibility and quality in daily work.
