Position Title: Rock Quarrying Specialist
Key Responsibilities
- To advise the contractor on how to improve current quarrying
operations, including the optimisation of drilling and blasting
practices to target the production of graded rockfills to specification
for a rockfill dam with minimum practical material selection and
processing.
Improvement of Contractor’s QA/QC systems and protocols. - Adhere to corporate values, policies and procedures
- Preparation of technical and progress reports including assessment of resource availability and material balance for project construction
- Review monthly payment certificates, contract documentation, bills/schedules of quantities and technical specifications and ensure that documentation is correct for monthly or interim payment certificates submitted to the client
- Preparation of site correspondence as well as other documentation required for site administration and/or reporting
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree/Masters from accredited university.
- Substantive experience of dam and underground works grouting and associated QA/QC arrangements is preferred.
- Knowledge of curtain, contact and consolidation grouting operations, equipment and methods
- Technical qualification is preferred with at least 20 years’ practical relevant experience
- Willingness to work with a Chinese contractor in an area of Kenya approx. 2.5 hours’ drive from Nairobi.
- CAD skills, preferably REVIT and knowledge of BIM (experience in BIM will be an advantage)
- Proficient in use of MS Office suite (including MS Project)
- Record keeping
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Ability to make technical decisions which are outcome driven
