Position Title: Database Developer
Seramai is a Kenyan fintech startup that specializes in creating and developing smart solutions to solve problems and automate processes in various industries.
Some of our flagship products include Fieldforce, ExtraPOS, payment integrations, Tablet banking among others.
The role of the database developer will entail developing and maintaining multiple databases, writing complex report queries, and maintaining technical documents.

Roles and responsibilities:
- Develop queries, views, indexed views and other database objects to facilitate querying, reporting, and analysis
- Adherence to the Kenya Data Protection Act
- Design and develop dashboards, charts and reports using PowerBI and SSRS
- Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary
- Write training guides and system implementation technical documents
- Any other duties assigned related to this job description
Minimum Requirements:
- An appropriate degree in computer science with at least 2 years of demonstrable database development experience
- Demonstrate knowledge designing and troubleshooting stored procedure, triggers and functions
- Experience working with databases and SQL and developing database centric applications in one particular DMBS, either SQL Server or PostgreSQL including writing complex SQL queries
- Interest in business intelligence and using Power BI
- Certification in a popular DMBS is considered a major advantage
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to work in a dynamic and highly challenging startup environment
- Must be willing to liaise and collaborate with other staff, and train them in the design, development and maintenance of these databases and dashboards
- Willing to travel outside the country and in some cases remote areas to train and implement systems developed.
