Auto-Mechanic Job Vacancy in Mombasa, Kenya

Position Title: Auto-Mechanic (HCV)

Location: Mombasa Workshop

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out effective diagnosis and identify faulty parts and problems as reported by the driver and ensure prompt rectification to restore the preferred mechanical standards.
  • Report any malfunctions identified in the vehicles to the supervisor and give recommendations on necessary corrective measures.
  • Removing, inspecting, overhauling, cleaning and installation of the various machinery parts and equipment with a view to servicing, repairing and maintaining the same.
  • Promptly respond to breakdown and carry out recovery of Company vehicles on transit.
  • Receives and fits the spare parts and materials from the stores to the equipment.
  • Maintains a safe working environment for self and others while undertaking duties and ensures high standard of cleanliness.
  • Reports any hitches or problems noticed while carrying out assigned duties to the Supervisor for appropriate action.
  • Keeps in safe custody all tools and equipment allocated and uses the same in proper manner.
  • Keeps safely all spare parts and materials of the jobs in progress.
  • Ensures the safety and cleanliness of documentation under own jurisdiction e.g. job cards, requisitions etc.
  • Adheres to the health and safety legal standards on the workplace as provided by the Act.
  • Handing over all the works and assignments to the supervisor or any other person in charge while leaving for off or leave.

Skills & Experience

  • Diploma in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience dealing with HCV especially Scania, Mitsubishi, Hino and Isuzu.
  • Vehicle repair and servicing; Removing and installation of vehicle units; Overhauling of vehicle units.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical and electronic systems; and experience in welding and light fabrication.
