Position Title: Food Security and Resilience (FSR) Environment Associate, USAID Africa Trade and Investment (ATI) program

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Food Security and Resilience (FSR) Environment Associate will support the FSR Environment and Social Risk Management Specialist with undertaking rapid and regular information including sourcing on environmental and social risk contexts to support timely activity screening and decision-making.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support partner capacity assessments and capacity building, while checking the accuracy and completeness of compliance documents as per checklists
  • Follow-up with partners on regular and scheduled environmental reports and continuously update the reporting tracker
  • Support with regular documentation and uploading of environmental compliance documents in the ERF tracker and Tamis Pro
  • Track all the program environment and social risk outputs and milestones and update the M&E system with the same, in addition to providing support with quarterly or annual reporting
  • Maintain fruitful relationships with partners and provide timely feedback on their environment compliance questions, and regularly updating contact information for environment compliance contact persons
  • Travel to regional offices as required
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Environment and Social Risk Management Specialist

REPORTING:

The FSR Environment Associate will report to the FSR Environment and Social Risk Management Specialist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental management, or environmental studies, with proven training in environmental and social risk and impact assessment
  • 7+ years experience in environment and social impact assessment and institutional capacity building
  • An articulate individual who possesses excellent communications and personnel management skills and who can relate to people at all levels of an organization
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and proven experience and ability to write briefs and reports is critical for this role
  • Environmental compliance experience within the private sector is desirable
