Primary Purpose:
To support the organisation in the monitoring of the risk and compliance environment. To support the field monitoring of field related activities. To contribute to the identification of criticalities and the implementation of corrective measures.
The position will regularly interact with Program leadership, Finance Department, Operations, IT and HR on topics pertaining to the areas of feedback mechanisms, follow up, investigation, spot checks, remedial corrective action.
Essential Duties:
- Participates in the development and implementation of annual compliance work plan, risk management program and monitoring / auditing plans.
- Provide technical suggestions on building internal controls and monitoring adherence to them
- Revise company policies, ensuring that policies are in line with donor regulations and rules
- Proactively audits processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses
- Implement compliance work plan and initiatives in the field and within the programs and administrative function
- Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices
- Address employee concerns or questions on legal compliance
- Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals
- Counsels management on the organisations adherence to donor rules and regulations through regular and robust reports
- Collaborates with departments to help create a culture of compliance
- Consults with Legal Counsel on legal compliance matters and investigations, as appropriate.
- Independently investigates or supervises the investigation of compliance concerns raised through the Integrity Hotline or other reporting mechanisms.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum four (4) years total experience
- Previous experience with US federal funded programming required
- USRAP experience preferred
- Previous compliance experience preferred
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills
- High levels of integrity and confidentiality
- Attention to detail
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree is required (or 4 years of work experience in lieu of a bachelors degree)
Certification in Compliance and Ethics preferred.
Abilities: Manage large and diverse workload under pressure with competing priorities.

Special Requirements:
- COVID Vaccination is strongly recommended for all successful candidates
- The candidate should be of good health, willing and able to travel extensively in often difficult conditions, and have a high degree of flexibility. Must have proof of Yellow Fever vaccination before traveling for RSC Africa.
- This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya
- This position requires use of laptops at all time, competence in Microsoft office packages is required.
- This position may require travel in sub-Saharan Africa on short notice and under sometimes difficult conditions to meet demands of a dynamic operational program
- Background check which includes references and an educational and criminal check is required before the start of employment for International applicants.
- A valid passport and the ability to maintain a valid passport throughout the entire appointment is required, which includes having enough passport pages for travel.
- Physical: This position requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, handling objects (manual dexterity), reaching above shoulder level, using fine finger movements and lifting/carrying heavy loads.
- Environmental: Incumbents in this position will be exposed to excessive noise, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity, dust and infectious diseases, harsh weather climates, long work hours, bumpy roads, extended travel, excessive sun exposure, and non-ventilated spaces.
