Human Resources Manager Job Vacancy in Kenya

Our Client, a reputable private tertiary training institution seeks to recruit a Human Resources Manager, who will be responsible for providing professional leadership in formulating and implementing best practices in human resource management in compliance with national labour legislation, relevant policies and regulations.

He/ She will oversee all processes of HR which will include HR policy formulation, recruitment and selection, performance management and Training and development among other HR Functions.

Reports to: Finance Director

Job Location: Ruiru, Kiambu County

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of the HR Strategy.
  • Provide guidance in the development, interpretation, implementation and review of human resource. management and administration policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Initiate best practices in the management of human resource function.
  • Coordinate the recruitment and selection process in order to ensure that the Institution has a critical mass of qualified Human Resource with the required competencies necessary for implementation of department’s strategic management plans.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of grievance handling mechanisms,recommending appropriate action to resolve problems as well as assisting employees to find satisfactory solutions to personal problems through counseling services.
  • Design and roll-out staff welfare programmes
  • Prepare and manage the HR operating and capital budgets.
  • Champion change management programmes in the Institution
  • Assess training needs analysis and baseline attitude surveys in order to design and implement relevant training programmes aimed at building capacity by equipping staff with the necessary knowledge, skills and behavior characteristics in line with the strategic plan.
  • Lead the Institution in formulating and implementing efficient Performance Management Systems
  • Monitor the implementation of performance management systems; analyzing the staffing levels in the Institution and recommending proposals for succession planning and proper deployment
  • Promote Health and safety policies within the organization geared towards an improved safe working environment.
  • Conduct skills audit and training needs assessment as required.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of the payroll.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate staff career and succession plans, progression and development to ensure staff attraction, retention, motivation and job satisfaction.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum period of Seven (7) years relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in a senior management role in comparable and relevant position
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Human Resource Management or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution
  • Master’s degree from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working in an education institution is highly desirable.
  • Membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management in good standing
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Demonstrated results in work performance
