Our client, CM ADVOCATES LLP is a premier legal and business advisory firm in Kenya and within the East Africa Community (EAC) providing its customers with a one-stop-shop for their legal and business advisory needs.

The Nairobi Head Office seeking to fill the following position:

Position Title: Senior Associate – Real Estate & Banking Finance Business Unit

The ideal candidate must be a person of High level of integrity and confidentiality, hardworking and able to work with minimum supervision.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Education

  • Second Class Upper in LLB from a reputable institution with at least B+ in KCSE.
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with a current Practicing Certificate.
  • A Masters in Law or a Law related field
  • CS qualification is a key added advantage

Experience

  • 6 – 7 years of experience in a busy firm
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating sale and purchase transactions including real estate project
    work.
  • Good working knowledge of bank securities perfection processes at lands and companies’ registry
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of conveyancing, court rules, land registry procedures, land laws and most paramount SPA.
  • Good drafting, communication, research, and analytical skills and a high level of accuracy and
    attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proactive, self-motivated and aggressive.
  • Experience in undertaking all forms of transactions on the ardhisasa platform inclusive of title
    conversion, transfer and charge.
  • Preparation, negotiation and registration of commercial leases and licenses

Leadership Qualities

  • Able to make prompt work execution decisions with minimum supervision within a given task while observing key client dynamics
  • Initiative in taking up active leadership roles depending on the tasks at hand
  • Ability to work in a high demand environment where strategic opinions have to be given in steering client assignments within the ever changing legal practice landscape
  • Demonstrable emotional intelligence in managing team and client expectations
  • Demonstrable experience in managing small project teams and client portfolios
  • Past experience in result oriented marketing and business development for new client business
  • Ability to demonstrate key values that foster relationship management and problem solving skills within the team and ultimately for the benefit of firm clients.
