Position Title: Social Worker
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The social worker is responsible for building intervention strategies for a wide range of issues that special needs children face (e.g. discrimination, learning difficulties). They collaborate with parents, teachers, and school administrators to ensure children feel safe and happy. The social worker also identifies and reports on severe problems, such as child abuse and neglect.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify children and communities in need of help with our special needs facility services.
- Assess clients’ needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine their goals.
- Help clients adjust to changes and challenges in their lives, more so for those with children with special needs.
- Research, refer, and advocate for community resources, such as food stamps, childcare, and healthcare, to assist and improve a child’s well-being.
- Respond to crisis situations such as child abuse and mental health emergencies.
- Monitor clients' situations, and follow up to ensure that they have improved.
- Maintain case files and records.
- Provide psychotherapy services.
- Conduct home visits for our children and assess their needs.
- Conduct home background checks and offer feedback to the organization in regards to parents socio economic status.
- Identify, register and refer abused and exploited children for child protection services.
- Refer children with special needs to our facility.
- Issue reports on the home visits conducted, action plans and recommendations for each case.
- Dissemination of neuro policy to all the new neuro clients.
- Determine copay for the active neuro patients.
- Address concerns of patients who lack social support in treatment of any condition.
- Refer cases that need medical examination to the doctor.
- Follow up on our clients to ensure they pay the amounts they ought to for meds and services.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A Diploma/Degree in Social work or Social Sciences.
- Relevant work experience of 2 Years.
- Computer literacy in all the Microsoft office applications, and internet literacy are required.
- Good communication skills.
- Fluency in English, writing and speaking.
