Position Title: Mechanic
Location: Segera, Laikipia County
Reporting to: Workshop Manager / Operations Manager

Purpose of the job
To work towards ensuring that all vehicles/machines are in good working condition and also well maintained.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Inspect and test vehicles and conduct preventive maintenance including oil change, engine tune-up, tire rotation, wheel balancing and filter replacement.
2. Servicing and repairing light vehicles, commercial vehicles, trucks, generators heavy machinery, tractors etc.
3. Supervise and assign duties to any semi-skilled employees working under you.
4. Assess the assigned work if completed and well performed to your satisfaction.
5. Performing test drives to check repairs.
6. Test and ascertain with the drivers that the vehicles are in good condition before any trip and alert the drivers and management when defects are detected.
7. Advise on best alternatives of fixing defects including spares to be used.
8. Respond to emergencies and breakdowns at any time as long as it is within company acceptable limits.
9. Get feed backs from the driver on the condition of the vehicle/ Tractor every time they come back from the trip or the end of the day.
10. Keep a maintenance schedule for all heavy machines, vehicles and tractors.
11. Updating vehicle service records.
12. Perform any other duties that may be reasonably assigned by management from time to time.

1. Alert colleagues, manager of any safety concerns at workplace.
2. Ensure that work environment is clean and devoid of objects which can cause harm or endanger others.
3. Control oil leaks to keep the environment clean and safe.
4. Keep tools and company property in a clean and serviceable condition.
5. Ensure proper use of the PPE.
The ideal candidate must have the following minimum qualifications.
- ‘O’ Level Certificate
- Minimum trade test 1
- Excellent understanding of the principles of vehicle mechanics
- 8+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Working knowledge of repair tools and machinery.
- Impeccable communication Skills
- High degree of honesty, integrity and reliability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prepared to work long and flexible hours
